With his family at his side, Valmond Joseph Cormier passed away on January 29, 2009, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Dalhousie, N.B., on December 15, 1947, he was a son of Elizabeth (Poirier) (Cormier) Ball and the late Adrian Cormier. Val had a passion for hairdressing, was deeply religious and had a great love for people, flowers and animals. He also had a love for travel and was able to visit the Far East. Val pursued his hairdressing career in Saint John, Vancouver, Montreal and the last few years in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Besides his mother he is survived by his stepfather, Bernard Ball of Saint John; two brothers, Rene of Saint John and Michael (Mary Lou) of Grand Bay - Westfield, N.B.; four sisters, Betty Ann Hamilton (Allen) of Saint John, Geraldine Levesque (Dan Scott) of Nackawic, N.B., Marlene Cormier-Cox (Robert) of Porters Lake, N.S., and Barbara-Ann Himelman (William) of Parrsboro, N.S.; one stepsister, Jacqueline Kilpatrick (Gary) of Saint John; one stepbrother, Clarence Ball (Giselle) of Manitoba; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and a stepsister, Russette (Ball) LeBlanc. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan\'s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church, Bay Side Drive on Monday, February 2, 2009, at 1 p.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph\'s Cemetery.
