It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Ray Boyce, 66, at home on Monday, July 13, 2015.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Bernard and Carmella (Nolan) Boyce.
He attended Holy Cross, St. Anthony and St. Michael’s Sr. High. Ray worked for Sydney Steel from 1969 until 1999. His interests included travelling, reading, movies and attending the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles games of which he was a season ticket holder.
Ray was a kind and quiet individual, devoted to his wife and a loyal caregiver to his parents. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and put other people’s concerns ahead of his own. His family was an important part of his life and he enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife Zelda (Timmons); brothers, Floyd (Barbara), Gary, Leo (Janet) and sisters, Doneshia (Randall) Morean and Edwinna (Roger) Munroe; also nieces and nephews, Pamela, Liam, Sarah, Cory, Emily and Courtney.
We would like to thank Palliative care, Cape Breton Cancer Unit, VON, County Homemakers for their support, as well as Tom MacNeil, and to Dr. Archibald for taking good care of Ray.
Memorial donations in Ray’s name may be made to Hospice/Palliative care, the Red Cross or the cancer Comfort fund.
Visitation for Ray Boyce will be in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday July19, 2015. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 20, at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney
