GRIFFITHS, David Anthony (1921 to 2009) — On February 1, the world lost a great historian and exceptional storyteller. Daddy passed away at the Placentia Health Centre surrounded by family. Grieving his loss and left with many happy memories are his wife Clara of 57 years; children, Anne, Martha (Paul), Donna (Cyril), David (Debbie), Patrick (Goldie), Mary Theresa, Judy (Larry), Cathy (Phonse), Jacintha, Clara (Daryl), Yvonne (Jeff), Helen and honorary daughter Laurie; grandchildren, Suzanne and Kate, Lesley, David and Allison, Joseph and Patrick, Erin and Christopher, April, Blair and Dale, Scott and Joshua, and honorary grandchildren Cheryl and Anthony; great-granddaughter, Saidey; sister Mary (Norman) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Annie Griffiths, sisters Helen and Julia, brothers Bert, Tom, Pat and best friend and brother-in-law Willie Norman. Resting at Maher’s Funeral Home in Placentia, Monday, February 2, 2009 from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, February 3 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Funeral mass on Tuesday at 1 p.m., St. Theresa’s Church in Ship Harbour.
