It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Yvonne Marie (Cooke) Anderson, 74, of New Victoria.
Marie passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015 after a brief illness at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Nina Josephine (Lynch) Cooke.
Ma was a kind soul who loved just being in the company of her family. Ma was always there for her children in any way she could.
Saturday nights were her favourite nights to sit down and watch her shows and then listen to the 'Kitchen Party'. She loved tapping her toes to the old classics.
Ma will be deeply missed by her family, sons, Todd (Jennifer) of Florida, Butch (Ceri) of Ontario, Willie of New Waterford and daughter Selena (Wayne Tighe) of New Victoria; granddaughters, Kira, Kaci, Sophie of Ontario and the light in her eye, Kelsey (Brennan) of New Victoria whom she adored with all of her heart; brothers, Billie, John A., both of Glace Bay, Patrick, James both of Ontario and sister Josie Cooke, Montreal.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Aubrey, Paul, her sister Carol Anne and three siblings in infancy. Ma was also predeceased by her husband John Thomas 'Jack' Anderson on Dec. 7, 1981.
There will be no visitation. A closed private service for Marie's immediate family will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.

The family would like to express their special thanks to all nurses and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for helping make her final days and hours as comfortable as possible. We, the family, would also like to send a very special thank you to Ma's care nurse, Paula Hickey.
