Verna MacGillivary, age 93, passed away peacefully at Melville Gardens, Halifax on Aug. 10, 2015.
Born in Alder Point, in 1922, formerly of Sydney Mines and Halifax. Verna's parents were the late Alphonse and Elizabeth Plant. Verna was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed visitors, travel, photography and animals.
She was predeceased by husband Wilfred, brother Jim, and sister Audrey.
Verna is survived by her daughter Dale (Doug) McLellan of Halifax; sister Edie and family in North Sydney; and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the EMTs and QE II Hospital ER staff who cared so well for Verna over the past few months; and would especially like to thank all 3rd and 4th floor staff and administrators at Melville Gardens, Halifax for the excellent care, comfort, and companionship they gave to Verna during the years she happily resided there.
Cremation has taken place. A service will be held at Carman United Church, 3 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15.
