One of God's gentlest souls, Yvonne Poirier, 96, passed away Aug. 11, 2015 at the Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford.
Born in Cheticamp, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Cecile (Doucet) Deveau. Yvonne was a devout Catholic and member of the Parish Church of St. Leonard, formerly Mount Carmel Church, New Waterford. She spent most of her days praying for family and friends and in earlier years, enjoyed to cook, bake and go dancing with her husband, Paul.
Surviving are brothers, Eugene, Robert, both of Ontario, Leonard, New Brunswick, Arthur, Truro, and Linus, Cheticamp; sisters, Agnes, Cheticamp and Jeanne, Ottawa.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul 'Midi'; son, Arthur; brothers, Gaston, Danny, Alfred, Willie and Gerard; sister, Mary Catherine.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at 2 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford.
