Helen I. Winters, 90, of Oxford, and formerly of Southampton passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan.
Born in Southampton, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Clara (Lepper) Pettigrew. She was a past chief with the Pythian Sisters, and Past Noble Grand of the Rebecca Lodge. She was a member of the Southampton United Church and served many years with the UCW.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Winters, Lantz and Lower Sackville; sons, Brian (Rhonda), Penticton, B.C.; Bob (Marilyn), Penhold, Alta; John “Jackie” (Sharon), Dartmouth; Rod, Halifax; brothers, Laurie (Ruth), Vermilion, Alta; Harry (Myrtle), Vernon, B.C.; Aubrey (Shirley), Dartmouth; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” in 1998; a son, Merlin; a brother, Earl.
Visitation 2-4, 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday [August 26, 2015] at the Southampton United Church, Rev. Elizabeth Davies officiating. Burial in the Southampton Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Southampton Community Centre.
