Passed peacefully away at Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony on August 12, 2015, Melah E. Janes of Roddickton in her 85th year. She leaves to mourn daughters Betsy (Frank) Jenkins, Joyce (Wilson) Gill, Blanche (Raymond) Adams, Alma (Kevin) Gill, and Pearl (Paul) Williams; son Cyril (Maxine) Canning; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother Fred Randell; three sisters-in-law Ettie Randell, Laura Combdon and Martha Pardy. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey M. Canning and two sons Maxwell P. Canning and Joshua E. Canning, parents Eli Randell and Tryphena Randell, sisters Bessie Brenton, Dulcie Newman and Roland Randell. Visitation was held at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Roddickton on Sunday, Aug. 16 from where the funeral service took place on Monday, Aug. 17 with Pastor Benjamin Brown officiating.
