M. Pearl Board
BOARD, M. PEARL (SLEIGH) - Pearl Board, wife of the late Gordon Board, passed away on August 30, 2015, at Kennebec Manor.
Pearl was born on March 29, 1918 in Saint John, a daughter of the late Annie (Saunders) and Samuel Sleigh. She resided in Saint John until her 20’s, at which point she moved to Halifax, and lived there until the passing of her husband in 2008, when she returned to Saint John.
Pearl had many hobbies. She was an experienced crafter, enjoying knitting and crochet work, gardening, canning, and supplying her friends and family with fresh vegetables every year.
Pearl and Gordon were devoted members of Bayers Road United Baptist Church in Halifax, and they decorated the church every year with her homemade crafts.
She is survived by her son, Gordon Jr. (Dawn) of Calgary, sisters Marilyn (Fred) Roberts of Grand Bay-Westfield and Jean Fry of Dartmouth, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband Gordon, Pearl was pre-deceased by her daughter, Marcia, and her brothers Leonard, Walter, and Kenneth Sleigh, Charles Marr, John Marr, sisters Viola Cassidy, and Florence Bell.
Although there will be no visitation, family and friends are invited to attend the graveside funeral service, which will be held from the Rothesay Baptist Cemetery on Wednesday, September 2nd at 2:00 pm. For those who wish, remembrances to Kennebec Manor would be appreciated by the family.
