CHIEF DOUGLAS RODERICK CROWE RETIRED

Card of Thanks
Chief Douglas Roderick Crowe, Retired.
We, the family of the late Chief Douglas Roderick Crowe, Retired, wish to express our sincere thanks to our family, friends, and colleagues for the kindness and support shown to us due to our tremendous loss on the passing of our father, mentor, and friend. To all who sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, flowers, enrollments; made charitable donations to Alzheimer Society of N.S., Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County; provided food and drink; made phone calls, visits, sent e-mails; travelled to be with us; and attended the wake and funeral, we are overwhelmed by your generosity. Much gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff of Maple Hill Manor. Your compassion, kindness, and professionalism was so evident to Dad and to us. We will always be grateful. We want to thank also Ms. Carmella Lee of Maple Hill Manor who gave up her space to enable privacy for our father and his family during his final hours. A beautiful Funeral Mass was held at Saint Leonard’s Church, New Waterford, with Father Ray Huntley officiating, along with Deacon Leo Penny concelebrating. Thank you to the grandchildren, Caitlyn and Kristin Crowe, Robert Crowe and Mark and April Crowe, for reading and presenting the gifts during the Offertory. To those who assisted during Mass, we thank you. Our gratitude is extended to Mrs. Lorette Campbell, Choir Director, along with the Saint Leonard’s Choir for their beautiful selections of hymns, many which were Dad’s favourites.
Thank you to the soloists, Mrs. Karen MacSween and Mr. Tom McCabe. It was as if there was a consult between Dad and you with the selections you chose. Also, much gratitude to the C.W.L. who prepared a lovely lunch so that we were able to enjoy some fellowship immediately following the Mass. The expression of respect by the presence of the Honour Guard at both the wake and funeral was astounding. Our gratefulness is also extended to Reg Hutchings for organizing this assembly as a tribute to a life dedicated to service and mentorship. We also wish to thank the Cape Breton Regional Police Services and the Cape Breton Regional Police Service Retirement Association along with auxiliary uniformed members. To Chief Peter MacIsaac for the final salute at the grave site, we thank you from the bottom of ours hearts.
We are truly grateful for the exceptional service provided by Basil MacGillivary Sr. and Basil MacGillivary Jr., Funeral Directors, and the staff at V.J. MacGillivary Funeral Home for their professionalism, kindness, and compassion.
Sincerely,
Wayne (Barbara); Debbie (Gerard); Shaun (Bill); David (Michelle) and families.
