Joan Hackett Midgley, 87, most recently of Atlanta, GA, died on Aug. 30, 2015.
Born in Nova Scotia, the daughter of James Gordon and Hope (Temple) Hackett, she is survived by her daughters, Anne Bouchard of Alpharetta, GA, Jane Hudson of Decatur, GA and Sarah Jackson of Muscat, Oman, three sons-in-law, four grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Ingalls Midgley and her sister, Gwendolyn.
Joan worked as a court reporter and probate specialist and was active in the following organizations: League of Women Voters, Girl Scouts, Democratic campaigns, AAUW, and the Episcopal Church. She was an avid reader and traveler, with trips to destinations including Europe, Egypt, Kenya and Oman.
