Wolfe, Donald Francis, 81 of Halifax passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Queens Manor in Liverpool, one day before his 82nd birthday. He had endured a courageous 14 year battle with cancer. Born in 1933 in Western head, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late William and Hilda (Guest) Wolfe. In his early working years he served at sea on the Gypsum, Irving Oil and Bowater ships. Later he moved to Toronto where he worked for 28 years for the Toronto Transit Commission. Donald was regarded as a loyal, hard-working and highly valued employee. He retired in 1993 and moved to Halifax, where he lived until two months before his death. Donald had excellent taste in clothing and furniture and was an accomplished cook. In 2004 he adopted a cat whom he named Sage. Before that Sage had endured the elements, including White Juan. Sage had become Donald’s pride and joy, evident in how Donald loved and cared for Sage. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by brothers Harold, Archie, Willie, Raymond, Kenneth, sister Kathleen and a stillborn brother. He is survived by brother Forrest, sisters Vera, Dorothy, Ethel, Ruby, Margaret, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was deeply grateful for the companionship and assistance, especially during the latter years of his battle with cancer, which was generously given by his dear friend Lynn Hattie. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, September 19 at The Parish of Saint Aiden in Halifax (2756 Swaine Street), Bishop The Right Reverend Craig Botterill presiding. Internment at a later date at Grace Cemetery in Western Head.
