The death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit of Community Hospital, O'Leary, on Saturday, September 5, 2015, of A. Elwood Smallman of Summerside, formerly of Knutsford, aged 88 years, dear husband of the late Martha (Wells). Born December 2, 1926, at Locke Road, son of the late Frank and Beatriice (Ellis) Smallman. Dear father to Beverley (Ivan) MacWilliams, West Cape; Valerie Smallman (Clyde Penney), Forest View; Alan (Jenetta), Calgary, AB; Chuck (Leanne), Airdrie, AB; and Roger (Cathy), St. Catherines, ON. Loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildern and 1 great-great-grandson. Brother to Arnold (Eileen), Knutsford; Ellis, Alma; Orell Smallman, Knutsford; Barbara (Frank) Sweet, Knutsford; Margie (Jimmy) MacWilliams, Springfield West; brother-in-law to Edith Palmer, O'Leary; Isabel Hardy, Montrose; and Alma Rix, West Point. Elwood is predeceased by his parents, wife Martha in 1992, brothers Jack, Alton "Buzz" Rix and Myron Rix. Resting at Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O'Leary, with no visiting hours by personal request. Funeral service on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at O'Leary Church of the Nazarene at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in People's Cemetery, Mount Royal. In memory of Elwood, memorials to People's Cemetery, Mount Royal, or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
