Norma Jane Reid
Died at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, age 84 years. Norma was born to Jennie Vesta Humphrey and Robert Scott Humphrey in Kensington. She is survived by her siblings, Andrew Humphrey (Bea), Elaine Sharp, Marion Riehl (Walt). She was predeceased (2009) by her husband of 57 years, Bob Reid. Norma studied nursing at the PEI Hospital, where she worked for a short while after graduation. She married Bob in 1952, forming a wonderful team as they farmed, first in Middleton, then in Central Bedeque, raised a family, managed their motel and enjoyed a productive and rich community life, moving to Summerside in 2003. Norma will be greatly missed by her 4 children; Don (Deb), Anne, Kathy (Stan), Bill (Maria). She delighted in her grandchildren: Jason, Ryan (Tracy), Derek, Sara (Bryce), Emily, Laura (Luke), Natalie (Daniel) as well as her great-grandchildren: Garrett, Luke, Madison, Kali and Harper. Norma lived her life caring for others, living her values of respect, patience and kindness. She was an institute member for over 50 years, an active church member into her 80’s, and a warm hostess to her extended family her whole adult life. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Saturday, then to the Bedeque United Church where a celebration of Norma’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment in the Lower Bedeque Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Bedeque United Church would be appreciated. www.moase.ca
