Peter passed away peacefully at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on July 12, 2015, at 82 years. He leaves to mourn Peter Winsor (Luanne), Elaine and Brooke Winsor, Vince Leonard Family and friends, and a number of relatives and friends, especially friends in the St. John's sports community. Peter grew up in St. John's where he was well known in the softball and baseball leagues. Peter was inducted into the Newfoundland and Labrador Softball Hall of Fame in 1972. During a 10-year career from 1957 to 1966 Peter enjoyed five championships in softball - four as a player and one as a coach. In 1971, as a rookie of the year in St. John's senior baseball, he had the unique record of pitching a no-hitter in both senior softball and baseball. Peter earned three individual awards in St. John's softball including top pitcher for 1959. Off the field, Peter was a knowledgeable reader and lover of classical music. A sports friend described Peter as "one of a kind and a legend in his own time." Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11 am. Interment at Forest Road Cemetery. Donations in Peter's memory may be made to St. Patrick's Mercy Home Foundation.
