With great sadness but wonderful memories we announce the passing of our beloved wife, Mother, Nanny and friend, Marilyn Jean MacDougall (nee Gammon), 69, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Friday, Sept. 11, 2015.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Douglas, and loving children, Deborah (Wayne King), Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.; Timothy (Stephanie), Fredericton, N.B.; Tammy (Andrew Walker), Cole Harbor; Kathleen (David Burchell), Edmonton, Alta.; Marilyn (RJ Redden) Cole Harbor; stepdaughter, Tina (Justin Cutler), St. Croix, N.S. and her cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Bryan, Maya, Megan, Amy, Isabelle, Rhys, Ethan, Carter, Ariana and Brianna.
Born in Tufts Cove, Dartmouth, she was predeceased by her mother and father, Shirley and John Urquhart.
She is also survived by her siblings, John, Linda and Randy Urquhart and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend and she was loved by all who knew her. She made a difference in the lives of all the people she touched. She was passionate in her role as vice president of the United Church Women at Westmount United Church and was known far and wide for her love and talent of sewing and quilting.
Visitation will be held at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexander St., Sydney on Monday, Sept. 14, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2 p.m. at Westmount United Church in Westmount with DLM Norma Mills. Reception to follow. Interment to take place at Riverview Cemetery, Marion Bridge.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home.
