Gracefully passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 surrounded by her loving family in her 80th year. Predeceased by her husband Thomas and infant son Daniel James, parents James Herder and Esther (Carnell) and sister Nancy. Leaving to mourn: daughter Kay, sons Andy (Laura) and Tim and beloved grandchildren Nick, Claire and Sam Dobbin; Thomas, Lily and Daniel Woodford. Also mourning her loss: brother James Herder (Gail), Ontario and sister Barbara Corrigan, Washington. Brothers-in-law Michael Woodford (Pat) Nova Scotia, John Woodford (Elsie) and John Phelan, as well as a multitude of cherished nieces and nephews. Special friends the Tuesday Embroidery Girls and endless Bridge partners. Her loss will also be felt by the many touched through her lifelong community involvement. Gifting her empathy and skills to the establishment and service to Palliative Care Unit at St. Clare's, board member for the Canadian Cancer Society, Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, St. Clare's Auxiliary, to name a few. Judy's compassion and genuine care endeared her to all whose paths she crossed. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015, Cochrane Street United Church at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in Holy Cross cemetery.
