ELISABETH E. BROWN
October 24, 1924 - September 8, 2015
Elisabeth E. Brown, nee Meyer, our dear friend, has peacefully passed away September 9, 2015 at the age of 90 in her home in Gibsons.
Elisabeth was born in Germany, became an RN, worked as a parish nurse and took international nurses training in Switzerland and England.
In 1959, she emigrated to New York, became a public health nurse in Harlem, then in Philadelphia. Elisabeth took her PhD in psychology and taught at the School of Nursing at Hunter College.
Visiting here during a holiday in 1976, she met Milton Brown, who coaxed her away to a married life in Gibsons. Being a caregiver with all her heart, she continued helping people physically and psychologically. She built and maintained her own massage clinic on Chaster Road from 1979, until her professional retirement in 1989.
She loved her garden and proudly grew her beautiful flowers and shrubs for her own and other people’s delight, winning various awards.
She travelled extensively in Canada and abroad, loved swimming, cycling, hiking, camping, kayaking, and was interested in all people and peoples.
Elisabeth was a very special and loyal friend to all of us, had a wicked but gentle sense of humour, and she will not ever be forgotten.
Thank you to Trudy M., the VCH nursing and home care staff, Dr. Spithoff and the private care staff.
Christine K. and family, Christine R., Sharon D. and all her other friends. No service by request.
