It is with sadness and broken hearts we announce the passing of Leo Simmons, a loving husband, wonderful father and great friend, on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2015, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Tom and Eileen (Arsenault) Simmons.
He was a volunteer firefighter and joined the Glace Bay Police Force in 1969, retiring in 1995. Leo was a great bowler and cook. He was kind-hearted, had a great sense of humour and loved to torment.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Karen (MacKillop); children, Scott (Carla), Leanne (Mike); siblings, Leonard and Dianne (Bernie).
Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Roy, George, Allie and sister Sheila.
Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of Curry’s Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main St. A service celebrating Leo’s life will take place on Friday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. in the Glace Bay Fire Hall, Reserve Street. Kirk Neville will be conducting the service. Donations may be sent to the Diabetes Association.
