Janet (Jan) Craig Brown (nee Thomson)
Date de décès : 17 septembre 2015
(1939-2015)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Janet Craig Brown, peacefully at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on September 17th, 2015. Jan grew up in Scotland, where she studied nursing, and met the love of her life, Dr. Colin Mackenzie Brown. Together with their five children, Jan and Colin immigrated to Newfoundland in 1974. For over thirty years, Jan was a dedicated nurse in Glasgow, Greenock and St. John's. Throughout her life, Jan was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a loyal friend. Her sense of humour and her irrepressible zest for life made her a joy to be around. She will be deeply missed by many. Leaving to mourn are her: daughter Karen Howse (David); her sons David (the late Roberta), Kevin (Maureen) and Stephen (Gina); her grandchildren Alex, Ian, Fiona, Joshua, Will, Kate, Michael and Sean; her sister Margaret Thomson (Jim), her sisters-in-law Cathie (the late Angus) and Margaret Shackleton (Bill) and her brother-in-law Jim (Eileen), and cousins Allison Ash (the late Evan) and Heather Thomson as well as a large circle of treasured friends. Visitation will be held at St. Patrick's Mercy Home Chapel on Sunday, September 20th from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Patrick's Mercy Home Chapel on Monday, September 21st at 2 p.m., followed by a reception on the main floor for family and friends. Cremation will follow the funeral and a private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jan's memory may be made to the St. Patrick's Mercy Home Foundation or to the Salvation Army, a charity Jan supported. After 76 full and active years, Mum has left this world and gone to join our beloved father, Colin and our adored sister, Jacqueline. We love them deeply and miss them very much, but find comfort in knowing that they are all together again. To sign the online memorial guest book, please visit www.barretts.ca.
