
Gregory Mark Monteith
At the age of 57, Gregory Mark Monteith of Middle Sackville, N.S. died peacefully on September 16th after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
Greg was born on September 25th 1957, in Swift Current, Saskatchewan to Cecile (Metivier) and John Ross Monteith. He moved at an early age to Lethbridge, Alberta.
Greg was an accomplished athlete, excelling in hockey, football, baseball and lacrosse. He played for the Lethbridge Lancers lacrosse team. His passion for athletics continued with golf, and whenever he wasn’t working, Greg could be found on the golf course or on the golf channel.
Greg worked briefly for Canadian Western Natural Gas Company in Lethbridge, and then began a career in the airline industry with Time Air in Lethbridge, then Canadian Airlines in Calgary and Jazz Aviation in Halifax as a flight dispatcher.
He was awarded his 30 year service award in January of 2015.
Left to mourn are his wife and partner in life Kim (Arthur) of Middle Sackville, mother Cecile Haraga of Lethbridge, Alberta, step children Shannon Morriscey (Derek White) of Charlottetown, Matthew (Katie) Morriscey, Cornwall P.E.I., grandchildren Colby Crawford, Dylan Murphy, Sophie Warren, Meka and Merissa White and brand new granddaughter Briella White, all in P.E.I.
He tried so hard to hold on to meet little Briella, but missed her first visit by less than one day.
Greg is also survived by sisters Colleen Doubinin, Lethbridge, and Lisa Gault, Airdrie, Alberta, and brothers Brent Monteith (Helen) and Dwayne (Yvette) Monteith, both in Lethbridge, and special nieces and nephews Lindsay Miller, Airdrie, Jordan Monteith, Calgary, Brittany Monteith, Tyler Monteith, Alexandria Monteith, Merrin Monteith and Ross Monteith all in Lethbridge.
Cremation has been entrusted to Halifax Regional Crematorium.
Visitation will take place at Knox United Church, 567 Sackville Drive, Lr. Sackville on Monday September 21st from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. followed by a memorial service on Tuesday September 22nd at 11 a.m.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date in Lethbridge, Alberta.
