Betty went to join her loving husband Jim on Thursday, September 17, 2015. Born in Bay Bulls, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Capt. Baxter Blackwood and Eliza (Barbour) Blackwood. Betty was a loving mother and friend. She had an active social life and enjoyed a great party. She was a classic lady known for her keen sense of fashion. Betty is survived by her sons James and Scott (Fred) and daughter, Lori Hards (Eric); grandchildren, Ashley and Ian; sisters, Pat Green (George), June Grimes, Beryl Worthman (Bas), Susan Dunfee (Brendan); brothers, Bill (Joan), Wayne (Valerie), Gerry (Dee), Jimmy (Carol); sister in law, Roseanne (Ken) and brother in law, Ray Mootrey. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Jim; sister, Molly Mootrey; brothers, Bobby and David. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2pm Tuesday, September 22 at Knox United Church, Lower Sackville. Reception to follow in church hall. Interment in Prince Edward Island at a later date.
