
Martha Deobald
Martha Deobald, age 95, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Herbert Integrated Health Facility. Martha was born on August 5, 1920, the youngest of 5 daughters born to Theodore & Pauline Kober (Peil). She was born and grew up on the farm on the NW 9-15-7 W3, about 1½ miles from Zion Lutheran Church, at Flowing Well. She attended there all her life as long as she was able to and where she also played the organ for many years. She took all of her education at Meadow School which was located across the road from the church. Martha married Albert Deobald on November 30, 1941, and their first home was on the yard located south of Albert's parents' farm. In the spring of 1944, they purchased the N ½ of 20-14-6 W3 located 3 miles north and ½ mile east of Kelstern. Albert built a house there and also where they spent all their farming years until Albert’s passing. They were blessed with 5 children – daughters, Doreen (1943), Irene & Iline (1946), and sons, Delmer (1950) and Calvin (1955). Martha moved to Morse in 1970, and in the summer of 1996, she sold her house and moved to the low rentals. After breaking her hip she moved to the Herbert Manor on August 6, 2007 (the day after her 87th birthday). When her health declined she moved to the Herbert Integrated Healthcare Facility in August, 2014. Martha was predeceased by her husband, Albert (1969); her daughter, Doreen (1980); her parents, Theodore & Pauline Kober; and by her sisters, Mary Spate, Lena Senft, Frieda Stumpf and Elvira Steinhuer. She is survived by her son-in-law, Gordon (Linda) Priebe - Bruce (Lisa), Scott (Shawndel) and Richard (Lauren) Priebe; daughter, Irene (Walt) Boehm - Cindy (Rick) Weppler, Kurt (Judy) Boehm and Michael (Tara) Boehm; daughter, lIine (Larry) Redekopp - Shauna Hettinger (James Plett), Carla Hoffman and Regan (Maureen) Redekopp; son, Delmer (Lynda) Deobald - Derrick (Rachel) Deobald, Kelly (Rebecca) Deobald and Nicole (Aaron) Churchman; son, Calvin (Irene) Deobald - Steven Deobald and Aaron (Jamie) Deobald; her 28 great-grandchildren - Oliver and Violet Priebe; Shainah and Tyson Priebe; Abegail and Elliotte Priebe; Megan (Jared) Cowie, Casandra and Colton Weppler; Sterling, Olivia, McLean and Anna Boehm; Courtney Harron Keawna Hettinger and Kaiden Plett; Brody, Adriana and Taylor Hoffman; Ryan and Rowan Redekopp; Rebecca, Hannah and Bryn Deobald; Mckonen and Addis Deobald; Dayton Deobald and Hayden Churchman; sisters-in-law, Christina Shepley, Sophie Hessler and Paulena Weppler; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service was held on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 2:00 pm from St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The organist for the service was Arlie Neufeld. Scripture readings were read from Psalm 121, Matthew 11:25-30 and Philippians 4:4-9. “When Peace Like a River”, “My Life Goes On in Endless Song” and “The Lord is My Shepherd” were sung by the congregation. Tributes were shared by Calvin Deobald and grandchildren. Special music was brought by a grandson. The ushers in the church were George Coates and Roy Deobald. The Interment preceded the Funeral Service and was held at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Flowing Well, SK. In memory of Martha Deobald, donations made to the Herbert Integrated Health Facility, the Herbert Heritage Manor or to the St. Olaf Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.
