George McIntyre

Lieu de naissance : Bras d'Or
Date de naissance : 25 décembre 1932

Lieu de décès : North Sydney Boularderie
Date de décès : 25 septembre 2015

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of George McIntyre, regret to announce his passing. George died peacefully at home on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, with his loving family around him.
Born in Bras d’Or on Dec. 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Ben and Annie May (Handley) McIntyre.
George’s early working days took him to the Great Lakes where he worked on the lake boats, where he was injured. Later, he worked for Ben’s Ltd., Halifax, and Allen Industry, Stoney Creek, Ont. He retired in 1972, because of injury.
George became confined to a wheelchair in the early 90s. He loved harness racing, hockey, Texas Holdem Cards, and friends dropping by. His sense of humour, hearty laugh, and his smile made him special to all who knew him.
He dearly loved St. Joachim Church, Boularderie, where he will be laid to rest. He has finally got his wish to be called home, safe, and out of misery. Although you are gone in body, your spirit will always be with us.
His family will be forever grateful to all the doctors, physio staff, home care staff, and the VON, who played a major part in his later years.
George is survived by his loving wife Bernadette (Bernie Ryan) from Boularderie; his children, George (Petra), Grimsby, Ont., Ben, at home, Paul, Ontario, Michael and Lorie, Victoria, B.C., and Willie, Florence. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Cara, Brent, Mandy, Aynsley, Taylor and Melissa, all of Ontario, Mary Kate and Ryan, Edmonton, Rene, Drayton Valley, Georgia, Abigail and Jacob. Also surviving are his brothers, Gerald (Thelma), Sydney Mines, and Carl (Sis), New Hampshire, USA; sisters-in-law, Edie MacInnis, Sydney Mines, Shirley (Peter) Harrison, Westmount, Wilma, Hamilton, Paula (Wayne) Currie, Boisdale, Cindy (Bobby) MacLean, Alberta, and brother-in-law Alex (Maryanne) Ryan, Boularderie.
Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his sister Marie Lawrence, daughter Mary Geralyn, his first wife Ethel White, sister-in-law Chris Ingraham, and brothers-in-law, John Ryan, Bill MacNeil, Sam Lawrence, Sandy MacInnis, Rollie Ingraham and Dewey Myers.
Visitation for George McIntyre will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. in St Joachim Church, Boularderie, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held in the Southside Boularderie Fire Hall, after the burial.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
