Angus Ronald 'Big Ron' MacIntyre

Lieu de naissance : Glace Bay

Lieu de décès : Dominion
Date de décès : 27 septembre 2015

It is with broken hearts that the loving family of Ron MacIntyre, 69, announce his passing on Sunday, Septe. 27, 2015 at the An Cala Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, Ron was the son of the late Charles E. and Rachel (MacDonald) MacIntyre.
Ron was a welder and blacksmith by trade. He was employed with Devco as a supervisor at the machine shop, Glace Bay. Ron was mostly known for his kind and loving personality. His gift to talk to people gave him countless friendships, both young and old.
From an early age he had a passion for sports. He played hockey, baseball and volunteered his time as a coach. Ron was an avid golfer at Lingan and in recent years he served as a marshal at the golf course. He was never shy to tell everyone about his hole in one in 1992. Ron also had a great love for a good game of poker and waited patiently for a call from his son-in-law, Mike, three times a week. He couldn’t wait to hear his wife, Cathy say, "someone is looking for the little fella." He will be sadly missed by his golf and poker friends. Ron enjoyed travelling with his close friends down south for many years. He was always the first to rise and pick the best spots on the beach for everyone.
There was nothing more important to Ron than family. He loved his wife, Cathy (O’Handley) MacIntyre and his two daughters, Allison (Steve), Ashley (Mike), beyond measure and couldn’t do enough for them. His pride and joy were his three grandchildren, Dylan James, Michael James, Rylee Isabella; he truly loved their company.
Ron will be sadly missed by his loving sister, Florence Ulrich, brother, Dal (Margie) and his many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by two brothers, Gerard and Charles.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. in V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Dan Boudreau is Thursday, 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Reception at the church hall.
Donations may be made to An Cala Unit, CBRH, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Palliative Care or a charity of one’s choice. Special thank you to the doctors and nurses at palliative care and the stroke unit, CBRH; especially Dr. Mark Ellerker.
Online condolences to the family can be expressed at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
Loving and kind in all his ways,
Upright and just to the end of his days
Sincere and kind in heart and mind
What beautiful memories he left behind.
