A doting husband, loving father, devoted grandfather, a kind and caring father-in-law, supportive brother and gentle uncle. Gramps will be missed by all those who deeply loved him and shared his incredible passion for hockey and lacrosse.
Our family has been blessed and enriched with the gift of his positive and generous spirit. He will be fondly remembered by his son Lester and wife Déirdre, his daughter Wendy and husband Bill, his loving grandchildren Rory, Amy and husband Jason, Brendan, Emily and Reilly, his siblings Fred and Dena, his brother-in-law Brian and wife Glenna as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Lester was born on March 29, 1937 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. He peacefully joined the love of his life, Joyce (nee Richards), in the presence of his family on Sept. 27, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lester was predeceased by his parents Roland and Elsie Smith and his siblings Lorraine Smith, Vivian (Thomas) Moore, Roland (Brigitte) Smith, Raymond (Edith) Smith, Norman (William) Attwood, Greta (Art) Morrison and Shirley (Raymond) Hennessey.
His greatest pleasure was being with his family and sharing in their lives.
A celebration of Lester's life will take place in his beloved Big Bras d’Or, Cape Breton as well as at St. Georges On the Hill in Etobicoke on Oct. 4, 2015 at 3 p.m.
