Archie Haleta passed away peacefully at Shornecliffe in Sechelt on September 28, 2015, at the age of 88 surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife Nina, son Christopher, daughters Nadine and Tammy, sister Maria and numerous other relatives. Archie immigrated to Canada from the Ukraine with his family when he was a boy. The oldest of five children, he grew to be an independent, can-do entrepreneur operating his own restaurant in Banff, Alberta, in the 50s. He discovered his true passion in the lumber industry, as a businessperson, logger, and shake mill owner in Twin Creeks, BC. Some may remember his purchase of Deer Island being the subject of aboriginal land claims in the 80s. Family and friends remember Archie as a larger than life figure with a hearty laugh who knew no obstacles.  A private service will be held at a later date.
