It is with profound sadness that the children of Captain Tony Connolly announce his passing on Thursday, October 8th, 2015 at 9:40 p.m. at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit at the age of 91 years. Leaving to mourn his five daughters: Marie (Neil Reddy), Leona Batstone, Sandra Meaney, Mary (Dave Hackett), and Gertie (Paul Pedersen); sons Brian (Leona) and Don; daughter-in-law Dianne Connolly; brothers Peter and Joseph (Rita); 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Della nee Benoit (2004); sons Bernard and John; step-daughter Regina; grandchildren Michelle Pike and Adam Connolly; parents Clarence and Gertrude (Hackett) Connolly; parents-in-law William and Mary Benoit (Gallant); and brothers Jim, John and Michael. The family wish to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Phillip Morris and Angela MacDonald, and the doctors and nurses at the Palliative Care Unit. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Parish in Benoit's Cove on Monday, October 12th, 2015 at 10:30 a.m with Father Don Leonard officiating. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Benoit's Cove. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations can be made to Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish.
