Colin Francis 'Frankie' MacDonald
Lieu de naissance : Dominion
Lieu de décès : Reserve Mines
Date de décès : 9 octobre 2015
It is with broken hearts, that the loving family of Colin Francis MacDonald announce his passing on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at the age of 80.
Born in Dominion, he was the son of the late Colin and Sara (MacNeil) MacDonald.
Affectionately known as Frankie, he was a true family man who spent all his years taking care of us and his beloved dog, Carlos. Da loved listening to CBC radio, watching Columbo, MASH or All in the Family. He especially loved telling or listening to stories of the earlier years.
He worked at the heavy water plant for a number of years; but he took great pride in their candy store attached to our home, spending many hours attending to it and his pinball machines in the barn. He was quite the craftsman and known to be able to fix or build anything.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie (Boutilier) MacDonald, his two daughters, Tanya (Shawn) Skinner, Halifax, Roxanne (Alex) MacEachern, Reserve Mines, sisters, Johnena and Mary Margaret, Dominion. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Catherine Hart (John), Reserve Mines, Ann Doucette, Reserve Mines, Betty MacDonald, Antigonish, many nieces and nephews including his special nephew, Bernie MacDonald, Reserve Mines and four grandchildren, Franki, Sandy, Colin and Heather.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Wendy, brothers, Charlie, Joe, Dan and John, sisters, Ann, Mary and Elizabeth in infancy.
A very special mention to his niece and best friend, Karen Hart and his wonderful doctor, Dr. Ley.
We will forever be grateful and thankful for such a loving father, husband and uncle.
“Da, we love you with all our hearts”.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Rev. Dan Boudreau is Wednesday, 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines followed by interment in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held in the church hall.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
We would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Glace Bay General 3rd floor for the excellent care and support they provided to Da and his family.
