FANJOY, NANCY J.
“IN LOVING MEMORY”
On June 10, 2015 our hearts were broken with the passing of our Mother, Nancy J. “Scottie” Fanjoy of Rothesay/Saint John, NB, the daughter of the late G. Percy and Sarah A. (Helman) Scott and the wife of 60 years to the late John Vernon Fanjoy.
Survived and deeply missed by her daughter Pamela Fanjoy-Knight of Rothesay, NB and son John M. Fanjoy (Rita) of Bridgewater, NS (formerly of Ottawa).
In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by her sister; Grace E. Scott, a special uncle; Jim Dutcher and son-in-law Dale R. Knight.
Our mother was a proud Veteran with the rank of Corporal, who served during WWII with the A.A.O.R. - CWAC as an “Anti-Aircraft Plotter Telephonist”. Canadian postings were at various military locations from Saint John, NB to Esquimalt, BC. She was awarded with the WWII Decorations of: Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, War Medal 1939 - 45 and recently received a special certificate of recognition and commemorative lapel pin for her services during WWII. A tribute to a Veteran Service was performed on June 13, 2015 which was truly touching and deeply appreciated by Pamela and John M.
At the time of her retirement she was employed with Revenue Canada - Income Tax. She was a loving, generous mother and dedicated care giver to her family, as well as being a mentor to Pamela and John M. We will forever cherish family memories of our times at the beach, Sunday drives, camping trips and ending with a stop at the DQ, just to name a few.
Our mother enjoyed gardening, loved animals and had a great passion for travelling. Both mom and Dad loved travelling, made many trips across Canada, visiting Bermuda and travelled extensively throughout the United States. Mom often reminisced about her travelling experiences during her military service, including a visit to Hollywood, California. In the fall of 1988 she took a memorable trip to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales touring with Pamela. Being proud of her Scottish heritage, Scotland was the most meaningful and had a strong family/spiritual connection, visiting Glasgow and Edinburgh and all the areas her grandfather so often reminisced, especially the Walter Scott Memorial. She also went on a Caribbean cruise with Pamela, John M. and his wife Rita.
A Funeral Service was held at Brenan’s Funeral Home & Chapel (Paradise Row) at 12:00 Noon on June 15, 2015 officiated by (Rev.) Canon Leo Martin. The organist was Mr. Barry Snodgrass playing “Nearer My God To Thee”, “Ave Maria”, and a musical/narrative selection by Liberace titled “Strangest Dream”. Interment followed at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
Pamela and John M. wish to thank our special friends who visited the funeral home, attended the funeral service, sent donations and condolence cards and flowers. Special thanks to (Rev.) Canon Leo Martin.
I (Pamela) also wish to give sincere thanks to my brother John M. and his wife Rita for their support at home and during the funeral. I especially want to give a special thank you to my mother, who gave me her constant support, comfort and love, and from whom I inherited my strength through her guidance and wisdom.
