It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Tom Sawden. Thomas Lendis Sawden was born June 4, 1925 in Star City, SK and passed away October 6, 2015 at Extendicare, Moose Jaw. He was predeceased by his parents Tom and Marion, his son Glen, and second wife Lois. He leaves behind his wife, Catherine Markewich; his children, Anne Phillips, Laurie (Ken) Hird, Doug (Cathy) Sawden; daughter-in-law Jodie Sawden; step-children, Leslie Adank, Cindy Adank (Jeff), Ken (Penny) Markewich, Neal (Kathy) Markewich, Duane Markewich, and Lois Young; 8 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren and families; 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his siblings, Frank (Alice) Sawden, Maureen “Mo” Orrick, Linda (Dusty) Miller, and first wife Eileen Ratelle. The family would like to thank the staff of Extendicare for their kind and compassionate care given to Tom. There will be no funeral service at Tom’s request. Tom’s ashes will be spread in June 2016 at a private service at the ExCoelis Mt. – a mountain range in the Rocky Mountains dedicated to the Canadian 1st Parachute Battalion of which Tom was a member.
