May 15, 1946 – October 12, 2015
Our good friend Putter slipped off the edge of earth at dawn, October 12. Born in Summerside, PEI, he had a sharp mind, an unstoppable curiosity, a compulsion to tinker and a gentle soul. Escaping school early, he was a self-taught man who was proud to have never made it past Grade 8. He could enthusiastically talk your ear off on any topic and supply all the supporting details. He loved a good laugh.
As a young man he came west, Montreal and Vancouver being short distractions before he arrived on the Sunshine Coast and eventually the Egmont area, which he never left again. He was a legendary member of the Egmont community and loved to be a part of whatever was going on. He was always eager to get out the ropes and pulleys to help you move whatever needed moving. His curiosity often got the better of us, and you always knew when you had been “Putterized”.
Putter touched many lives, and once you met him, you never forgot him. We will miss his boat puttering into the dock and his big smile whenever he saw you.
A remembrance gathering will be held at a future date.
