William 'Russell' Billard
The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays lost their biggest fan this week. Russell has moved on to his final game.
Russell, age 54, was the only son of Murray and Colleen (McMullin) Billard of Louisbourg.
In his younger days, he could be found at the ballfield, pitching for his team 'the Roachclips' (Let’s go Ralphy). He was employed at A&L Seafoods in Louisbourg and was known for singing and entertaining his co-workers.
Russell could be found sitting on his bench, talking to everyone who passed by or visiting his favourite resort “The Farm” and spending time with his favourite dogs, Lily and Gabby.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his sister, Lisa (John) Duffy, Sydney; nephew, Shane MacIntyre and his goddaughter, Jahyd Fudge. He is also survived by his friends, David Shepherd, Calvin Barter, Cecil Vallis, Darryl Eisan and Neil Perry and so many others. Your friendship to Russell will never be forgotten.
Russell was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Allan 'Ham' McMullin, Reserve Mines; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Billard, Grand Bruit, N.L.
One of Russell’s greatest wishes was to see the Leafs win the Stanley Cup, well it seems he just got tired of waiting. Rest in Peace, My Brother.
Cremation has take place. A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 at Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg. Interment to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice.
