SPENCER (Morrell), Karen Grace – 59, Noel, formerly of Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, October 3, 2015, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born August 26, 1956, in Enfield, she was a daughter of the late Stan and Edna (Weatherbee) Morrell. Karen took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She loved her pet cats, enjoyed “afternoon tea” at any time of day and playing games on her computer. Karen is survived by her loving husband, Murray Spencer; children, Laurie Morrell, Truro; Dewayne Kennedy, Alberta; grandchildren, Rebekah, Daniel, Justin, Hallie; sisters, Evelyn (Gary) Dawson, Bible Hill; Linda (Fred) Mason, Fox Brook, Pictou County; brother, Kevin Morrell (Marla Blenkhorn), Truro; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth “Betty” (Vernon) Feltmate. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Palliative Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their wonderful care. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Karen’s family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., today, Thursday, October 15, 2015, and funeral service 2 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2015, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery, Warren Drive, Bible Hill. If so desired, donations in Karen’s memory to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society are welcomed.
