Russell Robinson

ROBINSON, RUSSELL
On Saturday, October 17th, 2015, Russell Robinson, loving husband of 60+ years to the late Marjorie Robinson, went home to be with his dear Lord. Born June 10, 1922 in Saint John, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late William and Edith “Dolly” Robinson.
Russell started his career as an electrician at the Dry Dock, but a different career path was his future. Russell became a Fuller Brush Salesman, which lead him to insurance sales with Prudential, later retiring from Standard Insurance. He was a hard worker who was passionate about his work and sales came very natural to Russell. He was a Deacon and Founder of Crossroads Cathedral Pentecostal Church and served on the Board of Mill Cove Nursing Home for a number of years. He acted as Treasurer of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Association for decades, travelling all across North America and also represented The Gideons for many, many years. He also volunteered as a bus driver for seniors. Russell’s faith was strong and so very important to him. He was often referred to as a “soul winner” and completely delighted in bringing people closer to God. He was most recently an adherent of Kings Way Assembly. After retiring, golf became a new passion for Russell and he treasured the friendships he made on the links. Russell was a family man, loving and kind and generous. His children remember a warm and stable home with amazing parents. They recall wonderful camping adventures to Fundy National Park, Old Orchard Beach and seasons at Crystal Beach. Russell and Marjorie absolutely loved to travel and their trips to Florida and to California to visit their son and grandchildren meant so much. He was a loving and caring grandfather to his all of his five grandchildren and just recently welcomed his first great grandchild with joy into his fold.
Russell is survived by his only daughter Dianne Maloney (Bob) of Saint John; sons Bill Robinson of Saint John and Peter Robinson of California; grandchildren David Maloney, Patrick Maloney (Trisha), Sarah MacMillan (Bruce), Taylor Robinson and Jennifer Robinson; great-grandson Ephraim Russell Maloney and several extended family members.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife Marjorie, Russell was predeceased by his son David and his special cousin John Daniels.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visiting Monday from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A service to celebrate Russell’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from Kings Way Assembly, 7 Kingsway Drive, Quispamsis at 11 am immediately followed by a reception at the church. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to The Gideons or to the charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.
