With saddened hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Shirley Marie Campbell, on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on May 14, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Minnie (Enion) Campbell.
Shirley served as a foster mother for many years, and also worked for the CBRV School Board for 17 years as a bus and lunch supervisor, until her retirement.
Fierce defender of all things Campbell, Shirley will be lovingly remembered for her loyalty to family, her generous smile, and sense of humour. She was also a cancer survivor, and a devoted Elvis fan.
Shirley leaves behind to mourn her daughter, Donna Campbell-Munroe (Russell), Pickering, Ont.; her son, Donald (Aimee) MacNeil, Niagara Falls, Ont., and her two precious grandchildren, Nathan and Haylee - the apple of their Nana’s eye. Shirley will be sadly missed by her sisters, Pearl Parks, Debbie (Leonard) Marsh and Diane Campbell, all of Sydney Mines; sister-in-law, Paula Campbell, North Sydney, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Campbell, and her niece, Diana Strickland.
The family wishes to thank the paramedics and the doctors and nurses at the Northside General Hospital Emergency Services.
Visitation for Shirley Campbell will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, today (Tuesday), Oct. 20, 2015, from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place Wednesday, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. A reception will follow the mass, at the John J. Nugent Firemen’s Centre.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
Rest in peace, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend – until we meet again.
Elvis, I’m here. Watch out!
