The family of Myra Margaret Simms (Reid) of Pasadena, formerly of Bakers Brook and St. Anthony, is saddened to announce her passing on October 8th, 2015 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in her 68th year. Myra was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Having a strong faith in God she was very active in the St. Anthony United Church and the UCW. She was considered a social woman who dearly loved her friends and family. Myra was an adventurous woman who loved to travel and was always up for any activity with friends or family. She especially loved spending time at the cabin, hiking, cross country skiing, camping and morning walks ending with a good cup of coffee. Anyone who knew her and her love for sewing probably has a quilt or something that she made. In 1992 she attained her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse and demonstrated her passion while working both in St. Anthony and in Nunavut. Myra had very close relationship with her family and went on many adventures with them. She will be remembered as a mother who thought the world of her children and always made time for them. She knew they loved her dearly. Myra will be lovingly remembered by her husband Clyde of 46 years; her children: Corinna, Michelle and Michael Simms; her grandchild Rhonda Somerton, her sisters: Rosie Wong, Rhoda Parsons, her sisters and brothers-in-law: Phyllis Rose, Marilyn Simms, Ann Penney, Wilmore Simms and Ernest Simms. Myra will be missed dearly by her husband, children, grandchild, sisters, many relatives and good friends. Myra was predeceased by her parents Corbett and Amy Reid, siblings, Austin, Clifford, Roland, Cecil, Felix, Violet and Susie, step-mother Effie, father-in-law Ernest, mother-in-law Emma, nephew Wayne Major, niece Maureen Atkins and nephew Kenny Simms. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12 at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Rocky Harbour with Reverend Cannon Louise Richards officiating. Burial followed at the Anglican Church Cemetery, in Rocky Harbour. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Cancer Society in her name.
