Mary Theresa (Kokoszka) Fliss
Lieu de naissance : Sydney
Lieu de décès : Kenville
Date de décès : 16 octobre 2015
After a full and rewarding life, Mary, on Oct. 16, 2015 in her 98th year, passed away at Evergreen Home for Special Care in Kentville, N.S.
Born in Sydney, one of seven children of Walenty and Rosalia (Wojick) Kokoszka, she grew up in Kolonia (Whitney Pier).
Throughout her active life, Mary enjoyed sports, including baseball, skating, swimming, bowling and darts. She enjoyed knitting, especially her many Mary Maxim sweaters and took pleasure in sewing, woodworking and painting.
Our mother was a great cook and baker, especially well known for her "perogies". She loved to travel and the sharing of a good drink with good stories and good friends. We remember our mother for her courage, her sense of humour, her generousity and kindness.
Mary worked for many years with her brother at Bernie's Bakery. After marrying, she and her husband, Adolph (a Polish war veteran) moved to Broughton Road, where they had a small farm and raised their family.
Mary is survived by her sister, Dorothy Kokoskin; her daughter, Valerie Davidson and her children, Stephanie (Brian), Sesaly (Tony) and Mark (Karen); her daughter, Josephine MacIsaac and her children, Christopher (Krista) and Katie (Kirk). She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Mattea, Owen and Ellis, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Adolph; grandson, Matthew; brothers, Bernie and Alex; sisters, Tillie Yorke, Helen Michalik, Wanda MacKinnon and her son-in-law, Bill MacIsaac.
We are sincerely grateful to the Evergreen Family for their respect and dedication to our mother while she was in their care. A special thank you to the first floor staff for the gentle comfort and concern, in particular to Mary H., Doris, Trudy and Wendy. Gratitude also to Gerry MacIsaac, who visited often during our mother's stay.
A sincere thank you to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists for their compassionate service.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Church, Sydney on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow. Interment at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Donations may be made to St. Mary's Polish Church Building Fund or a charity of choice.
We would appreciate a note with your best memories of our mother. "Dobranoc Babcia"
