We regret to announce the passing of Catherine Rosella Rice, 88, on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Alder Point on Aug. 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late James and Matilda LeBlanc.
Catherine enjoyed playing bingo and dancing. She was a member of the North Sydney Pensioners Club. Most of all, she loved her family.
She will be sadly missed by her loving family: James (Karen), Wilson, Cathy, with whom she resided for a number of years, and Wayne, all of North Sydney, Weston (Beverly) and Leonard (Jeannie), both of Sydney Mines; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also left to mourn are her sister, Doreen, Ontario; brothers, Cyprian (Mary), Alder Point, Henry (Harriet), Glace Bay and Louis (Jessie), Ontario, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary; brothers, Ernie, Carl and Rodger and a grandchild, Andrew in infancy.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015, in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, with Rev. Stacey LeMoine officiating. The burial will be in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Tobin Road, Sydney Mines.
