Florence Eileen Birtwistle (Reid) passed away peacefully on October 3, 2015 at the age of 97. Florence was born December 29, 1917 and grew up in Milestone, SK. She worked in Ottawa and later in Regina as a secretary. On March 1, 1945 she married Roy Birtwistle and they farmed north of Ernfold. They retired to Moose Jaw in 1983. Florence had a beautiful soprano voice and loved to sing solos and sing in choirs. She was always involved in the United Church (junior choir leader, senior choir, UCW, Presbytery and Conference Rep); and she was a 4-H leader at Aquadell. Florence and Roy loved to dance, especially square dance. They loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful trips throughout Canada, United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand; as well as cruises through Panama, Caribbean, and the Mexican Riviera. Florence was full of energy and always on the go. Florence will be remembered for her love and care of friends and family. She never forgot to send a card or phone everyone for their birthday and anniversary. Florence was predeceased by her parents Joe and Eileen Reid; husband Roy; 3 brothers Frank (Mabel), Lloyd and Don; and son-in-law Ernie Wesolowski. She is survived by 3 daughters, Linda (Doug) Hayner, Cheryl (Willis) Wingert and Gail Wesolowski; 5 grandchildren, Jacqueline (Scott), Richard (Gen), Russell (Samantha), Krista (Tim), Kevin (Jenn); 5 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Arabella, Isobel, Brooke and Riley; sisters-in-law Rose Reid and Barb Reid; and special friends Grant and Julie Rourke. A special thanks to all the staff and volunteers at Edgar Hall in Providence Place. Your kindness, love and care over the past 2 years are most appreciated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Minto United Church, 1036 7th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw, on Friday October 30 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Providence Place Foundation, CNIB, or the Lions Foundation of Canada/Dog Guides.
