It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlaine Legnaro, age 50 on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a short illness.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Benito and Myrtle (McLean) Legnaro.
Marlaine was first employed with Cape Breton Tarten. She later worked at the General Hospital, Glace Bay, New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Taigh Na Mara.
Marlaine enjoyed playing darts, going for walks and having a nice hot cup of Tim Hortons coffee. But mostly, Marlaine will be remembered as a kind, gentle and compassionate lady.
Marlaine is survived by her longtime partner, Ronnie McNeil; their daughter, Emma Legnaro, who was her pride and joy; a stepdaughter, Jamie McNeil; two stepsons, John R. (Amber) and Michael (Natalie) McNeil.
Marlaine will be sadly missed by her sister, Rebecca (Gerard), Port Morien; her brother, Darrell (Margie), Glace Bay; brother-in-law, Gussie Boutilier and many friends, especially Carmella Morrison.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Lillian and Anita 'Tina'.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 2 p.m. in Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman McPhee officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
The family would like to thank the VON, Nancy and staff, palliative care, cancer centre, CBRH, and the nurses and doctors for their care and support.
