For many years the talented and inspirational owner of Ruth's Variety Store in Moose Jaw, Ruth Irene Hanson passed away peacefully on October 22, 2015, at Extendicare Moose Jaw. At her request there will be no funeral or memorial. Ruth spent her early years on the farm in Dinsmore, SK, which her father, the late Peter Hanson, homesteaded and those wonderful memories were with her always. Her mother, the late Oleif Brekke Larson, was a dedicated teacher in Norway and immigrated to Canada to marry. An amateur botanist, her mother's plant collection was accepted into the Canadian Museum of Nature archives. Her mother died when she was five years old and Ruth grew up with her brother, Howard (Ruth) and her sister, Edna, both of whom predeceased her. For many years, Dora Davies has been Ruth's friend and the family in Ontario thanks Dora for her care and kindness. Ruth was predeceased by her step-mother, Marie Kleemola and her brother Edward (Susan). She is survived by her sister, Madeline Kallio - Kanata, ON and many nieces and nephews. We will cherish her forever in our hearts.
