Margaret "Miggie" Hodder
Pictou/New Glasgow - The family of Margaret " Miggie " Patricia Hodder sadly announce her passing on Sunday, November 1st, 2015.
Born April 2, 1939 in Glace Bay to the late George Murray and Hannah ( Brown ) MacKay.
Margaret was a school teacher, graduating from Nova Scotia Normal College in 1958 and taught in Glace Bay.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served as the President of the Relief Society, for women 18 and up, as well as the in Young Womens and Primary (ages 18 months to 12 years) Auxiliary Organizations.
Margaret enjoyed playing piano, gardening, and spending time with her family. She loved life and had many friends from around the world.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Stanley Hodder, their 4 children, Jane Anne (Howard) MacKinnon, New Glasgow; Mark (Christy), Halifax; and Owen (Leslie), Brampton, ON; and a special, forever part of their family, Brenda (McKinnon) (Stephen) Earl, of Logan, Utah; eighteen grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren, 2 step great- grandchildren.
She is also survived by a sister, Druie Radway,Welland, ON.
Along with her parents Margaret was predeceased by a son, Edward Murray in 2003, sisters Eileen, Thelma, Rachel, Edith, Eleanor and brothers Melvin, Harris, William, John Roy, David, and Robert.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow and from 11-1 p.m .on Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 384 Abercrombie Road, New Glasgow followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. with President Stephen MacDonald presiding.
Private family burial to follow at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. A reception will take place in the church hall.
Donations to the Nova Scotia Alzheimers Society would be greatly appreciated. We would like to most sincerely thank the staff at Glen Haven Manor who treated Margaret with such respect, caring and thoughtfulness during her time with them. We will be forever grateful.
