It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Winnie MacPherson, 83, of Maple Hill Manor, formerly of Roaches Road, New Waterford on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 at the Manor.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Tommy and Dolena (Cormier) Brushett.
In earlier years, Winnie was a cook at various restaurants throughout town including Simeon's, Jerome's, and the Bayside. At one time she operated her own catering service providing great food to the local residents. Winnie enjoyed playing bingo but most of all loved being surrounded by her family, namely her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Surviving are daughters Cheryl (Eddie) MacLean, New Waterford, Doreen (Bernie) Rankin, Mabou; son, Jackie (Cynthia), New Waterford; brother Billy (Mary), Sydney; sister Lenora (Raymond), New Waterford; grandchildren, Danny (Ashley), Bernie (Ainslie), Holly (Ashley), Erica, Redmond, David (Kelly), Renee, Jacklyn; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Eva, Callie, Claire, Avery; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Winnie was predeceased by her husband Donald 'Red' MacPherson; son, Danny; sister, Doreen (Freddy); brothers, Ernie (Cathy) and Reggie.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
