RONALD ACHESON RONALD ACHESON

Ronald Acheson passed away on November 2, 2015. Ron, the eldest of eight, was born on May 4, 1930.
He was predeceased by his wife Joyce and his son Ronald Jr. He is survived by his partner Arlene, his daughters Leslie (Ron Crouse), Colleen (Bruce Brown) and Laura (Donald MacDonald), daughter-in-law Bev Fearnehough, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers and their families.
Ron served as a chief petty officer and diver with the Royal Canadian Navy and saw active duty in Korea. Over the years, Ron wore many hats. He was a sports writer for the Winnipeg Tribune, steam plant engineer in the Ocean Falls paper mill, Ocean Falls Credit Union manager, hotel manager, coroner (without a medical degree), magistrate (without a law degree), School District #49 Secretary-Treasurer, customs officer, BC Ferries ticket agent, owner of Sapperton Lanes in New Westminster, building manager in Burnaby and manager of the Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club. After retirement, he and his son opened Wharf Street Market in Sechelt.
He was a wonderful father, had a great sense of humour, loved to meet people and spent much of his time helping others.
So Dad, you “just rest your eyes” now. Forever in our hearts.
There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 28 at the home of Laura Acheson and Donald MacDonald, 539 Reed Road, Gibsons.
