Bernice (Boudreau) Schatz passed away Nov. 11, 2015 at home in Vancouver at the age of 86.
Daughter of William and Mildred Boudreau, Bernice was born and raised in Sydney, and remained a proud Cape Bretoner her entire life.
Bernice received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. FX University, Antigonish, and her Bachelor of Social Work from McGill University, Montreal. After receiving her Masters Degree in Social Work from Columbia University, New York, she moved to Vancouver working for the Department of Child Welfare. In 1965, Bernice married Peter and the focus of her life became her family.
Predeceased by her brother Gerald Boudreau, she will be sadly missed by her husband of almost 50 years, Peter Schatz, son Bill Schatz (Sarah), daughter Anne Meyer (Stephen), brother Bernie Boudreau (Jean), sister-in-law Betty Boudreau, granddaughters Laura and Jennifer Schatz, and grandson Matthew Meyer.
The funeral mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Parish at 3778 West 28th, Vancouver, B.C. with Father Paul Smith as celebrant. Interment to follow at Garden of Gethsemani at 15800 32nd Ave, Surrey, B.C.
