It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the sudden passing of Tom Gouthro at home on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary Anne Gouthro.
He was employed as a welder with the East Coast Fabrication and previously Clearwater. Tom enjoyed his time in the woods preparing fire wood for the winter and watching hockey on Saturday nights as an avid Leafs fan. "Papa" Tom, as his grandsons knew him, loved spending time with his boys.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine (Currie); his daughter, Stacey (Daniel) Randall, Cole Harbour; his precious grandsons, Mitchell and Ethan. He is also survived by his sisters, Jenny (Billy), Kaye, May, Hilda (Frank), Ann (Jimmy), Monica, Frances (Lauchie), Ann Marie, and Gert; brother, Dan (Kay); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia and Sarah 'Sadie', brothers, John and Gregory.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 23, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A memorial mass is being held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at St. Mary’s Church, Frenchvale with Fr. Duaine Deveraux officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery.
