It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Earl George MacDonald, age 77. Earl passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late George and Catherine 'Katie' (Robertson) MacDonald.
Earl worked for Devco; working on the railroad and at the central shop, retiring in 2001 after 22 years of service. He will be remembered as being a true gentleman; very quiet, caring and generous. He was also an avid Habs fan.
Earl will be sadly missed by his loving wife Helen (MacLean); daughter Sonya (Harold) Theriault, Saudi Arabia; son Craig (Andrea), Ottawa; sisters, Margie, Glace Bay and Myrna MacSween, Sydney; cherished grandchildren, Samantha and Jessica Theriault and Morgan, Ella-Reese and Addison MacDonald, all of Ottawa. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by a brother Allan 'Allie'.
In honoring Earl’s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
At this time we would like to give a sincere thank you, to doctors Stephanie Ellerker, Walla Moamer and all of the staff on 3-East, for the loving and compassionate care given to George.
