DAWSON, WILLIAM GERALD
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Gerald “Bill” Dawson at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing on December 3rd. He was born in Saint John, NB on January 5, 1925 to the late William and Helen (LeCouter) Dawson.
Bill began his career in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942, as a Jet Mechanic; he later went on to serve for the USAF. When his time in the service was completed, he began working at the Sugar Refinery Maintenance Division in Saint John. He then worked at the Dr. Roberts Hospital School as a shop instructor. Bill loved to wood work as a hobby and was known for his witty sense of humor.
He will be missed by his three daughters; Helene (Wesley) Dixon, Joanne (Stacy) Mullen and Sandy Payne; seven grandchildren; Jayla, Cody, Trevor, Chelsey, Kayleigh, Keighan and Rebecca, five great-grandchildren. Along with his parents and step father Howard Wilson, Bill was predeceased by his son Andrew Dawson.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations in memory of Bill may be made to Ridgewood Veterans Wing or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
