James L. MacGillivray, 96, passed away on Dec. 6, 2015, at the Harbourview Facility in Sydney Mines.
Born in Low Point, he was the son of the late Waldon and Laura Mae (Ling) MacGillivray.
James was a veteran of the Second World War.
He is survived by his daughter, Connie; sons Raymond (Andrea) and Jim (Karen); five grandchildren; brother-in-law Bernie MacNeil; and sister-in-law Joan MacGillivray.
James was predeceased by brothers, Blaise and Waldon, and sisters, Geraldine, Genevieve, Mary, Laura, Lenora, Muriel, and Bernadette.
Visitation will be held at V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, from 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass of celebration will take place on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Victoria Mines, with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard’s Parish Hall on Convent St., New Waterford.
